The Jester's Journey

When David first showed me his idea for a children's picture book called The Jester Has Lost His Jingle in the summer of 1988, I realized immediately that he had created a very powerful story that could have a lasting, positive impact on children for years to come.

I didn't fully comprehend how intense and life-changing that story was until seven years later.
In November of 1995, shortly after our family published The Jester Has Lost His Jingle, I was asked to share the story at a New Haven, CT, elementary school, not far from Yale University where David had worked on The Jester with such dedication.

I began reading the story to a class of fourth-graders. As I read, they spontaneously finished the rhymes on each page. After the reading, they peppered me with question after question about David, the book and its publication. There wasn't enough time to answer all their enthusiastic questions. They had fallen in love with The Jester & Pharley. It was just the beginning. The next day, I shared The Jester Has Lost His Jingle at two schools in Boston, one public, the other private. The same thing happened. And it continues daily — whenever I visit a school or whenever a child, parent or teacher shares the Jester Experience.

The Jester's Journey began with David, but it continues with you.
